Steak and Cognac sauce.

Postby Norway Joe » Sat Jan 19, 2019 4:20 pm

We often have steak on Saturdays. So we did tonight. Grilled a few sirloin steaks rubbed with SB Campfire and SPG. I like the steak medium rare but they got too much medium today. Cold outside so I stayed inside for too long while grilling. The taste was fine, though. A Kona beer from Big Island, Hawaii tasted good while making the food.

I would like to share the recipe of the Cognac sauce should you like to try it:

1 small chopped onion or Charlotte onion.
2 cloves of garlic. Minced.
Simmer in 2 table spoons of oil for a couple of minutes.
Add 6 tablespoons of Cognac or Brandy and light a fire.
Add 2.5 cups (6 dl) of good broth.
Reduce to half.
Add 1.7 cups (3 dl) of creme fraiche.
Simmer until thickening or thicken with corn flour.

Here are some pictures from prepping the sauce.

That looks great! :chef:

I've only ever had fancy cognac sauce at fancy restaurants, but never thought about making it at home. Thanks for the recipe!

I'm a bit of a purist with steaks: for me, I use no sauce. THIS, I would try! Looks good, sir!
