Philly Cheese meets French Dip

Postby JamesB » Sun Feb 10, 2008 8:20 pm

OK, Chuck's Philly Cheese Steak post inspired me to scrounge around the kitchen to see what I could gather up for dinner...

Simmered some thinly sliced left over tri tip in a bit of canned beef consommé. Sliced some onions really thin and caramelized in a bit of olive oil and butter. Tossed some chopped garlic in with the onions near the end... Slapped it all on a hoagie type bun and covered with smoked provolone cheese and put under the broiler for a few seconds...

Also, washed a couple of spuds and ran 'em through the tater cutter and made fresh frites... All in all I thought it was good eats...

Well, I did wash it all down with a beer, but on the plate is just some ketchup for the tates and a bit of the broth used to warm up the tri-tip to dunk the sandwich in...

Thanks for the compliments!

James.

Aloha James,

I just knew a sammie like that would "require" some beer to complete the meal!
