Getting back in the saddle

Postby TX1911 » Sun Dec 16, 2018 9:11 pm

Or, trying to. Its been a long recovery to this point, and i still cant raise my arm above about 60 degrees, and 800mg ibuprofen is my best friend....

But i can only keep myself away from the grills for so long. So tonight, I fired up the vision for a beer can chicken, tiny red potatoes and asparagus.

HEB natural chicken, injected with Butcher BBQ bird booster and seasoned with Hog Waller Honey.

On the kamkamado over oak lump with a few chunks of mesquite thrown in for good measure.

All done!

Lets eat!

Realized a few things....first, wrapping 6 small red potatoes "individually together" makes for an unfortunate appearance. Second, 8 weeks away is too long. Definitely not my best effort. Finally, it's good to be back!

Looks good to me! Glad to see you back to cooking. I know that’s a good feeling! Hope continue to have a successful recovery and don’t push it!

Had to have a 20+ year old tear in my labrum repaired. Small tear, three small incisions, and a stupidly long recovery. Doc says a year to get back to 100%, but I say

I too didn't know you had been unwell. The body can take a heck of a hammering and bounce back. Good luck with your recovery.

good luck on the recovery, I had a knee replaced a few years ago, one thing I learned is, the more you put into recovery exercise the better the overall results will be.
I worked like a demon in physical terrorapy…. those physical terrorist really were no fun. I will thank any of them to this day and beyond. The pain was worth the gain.
Not sure if you are going through the same or not. just my $.02

the chicken looks good. :salut:

Trying to. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday since the surgery. Forward and backward is progressing well. Lifting out to the side is not. At all.

I feel like an idiot doing 6lb bicep curls.

dont know if it would help you or not, they had me taking pain meds about an hour before terrorapy, that way I could work harder and push into the pain a little deeper.

Anyone else notice the humor in the counselor here making a comeback from a busted wing, did so with a chicken?! Well amigo, you've proven you're a master since you've produced this meal with 1 hand tied over your chest!!

Looks good, buddy! I had a similar Recovery after back to back knee surgeries and honestly, I don't think I'd wanna try my luck with a shoulder injury.
