Turkey Breast

Postby Williep » Thu Nov 08, 2018 7:19 am

Saw these bacon wrapped turkey breast at Kroger and decided to try one. This breast was already seasoned so I decided not to add any more, I fired up the Old Smoky with post oak and B & B oak charcoal, fire on one side and meat on the other. I don't normally read instruction's on the package but I did this time, 350 in the oven for 1 hour or 6 hour's on a smoker at 240, shooting for a 165 internal temp, so I decided on 275/285 for at least 2 to 3 hour's, boy was I wrong. I took a look at it after 1 hour and my first thought was that this thing is done, I checked the temp and it was right at 165 so I basted it with raspberry chipotle sauce and put the lid back on for about 10 more minute's, took it off and let it rest for about an hour, then sliced. I'm not a real big fan of turkey but it turned out good so I may pick up a couple more to go along with the big bird on turkey day.

You nailed that. I’m going to keep an eye out at Kroger for one of those.
