Oyster Question fer Cliff Carter or Sailor Kenshin...

Postby Boots » Fri Feb 09, 2018 12:11 am

Cliff or Sailor, asking you cause yer probably closest thing we got to salty sea men around here (apologies in advance to any Eastern Shore or Kiwi types who may be listening as I am just not aware of any who are sailor types at the moment), but here’s the question I’m cogitating:

You got any recipe fer smoking raw oysters???? Saw a deal a while back on Man Fire Food where they where steaming clams on an outdoor grill on the Outer Bank, but I like oysters better. I can easily visualize what I would dress them with once done (nasty snarling rough ground horseradish that pins its ears back at you, mixed with red cocktail sauce, some rough ground black pepper, and a little Worschteschnooster and lemon juice), but I am wondering about cook times and temps for those little barnacled nuggets of joy. Avast!!

Thx-Boots the prairie pounder.

Get a muffin pan for small muffin's, in each hole put a dab of butter, oyster, maybe a little seasoning if you want, parmesan cheese, crumbled bacon, chopped green onion, put on grill, when cheese is melted and they look hot, dig in. I like mine on a cracker with a little hot sauce. If you have any oyster shell's you can do it the same way but without the muffin pan. Enjoy :salut: :salut:

Here's the whole pic and the guy that showed me how to cook them on the pit a few years back. I bought a gallon of oyster's and we grilled them all while feeding people helping with the crap trap clean up in West Galveston Bay.

Looks outstanding Willie :salut:
luv me some oysters. I usually do them in the half shell on the grille bathed in some Tequila/Haberno oil and a little hot sauce. :D

Here we get bluff oysters and I've had oysters all around the world and these have a distinct taste,

http://www.bluffoysterfest.co.nz/
I like mine
1 raw in malt vinegar and lots of pepper
2 oysters Kilpatrick in shell with worst ever sauce breadcrumbs and cheese and grilled.
3 beer batter fried.
These oysters are BIG.

It costs nothing to be nice. A smile goes a long way.
