Odd supper

Postby JustinCouch » Sat Nov 04, 2017 5:39 pm

Kind of a strange throw together tonight. I saw a guy selling fresh collard greens so I bought a bundle along with a sack of peanuts. Then I went to Walmart and found some nice ribeye steaks at a reduced price. So tonight it's going to be collard greens cornbread and steak. When I told my wife what we were having for supper tonight she thought I had lost my mind.

They were fresh and green. I just finished boiling about 5 pounds. I'm also trying a reverse sear on the steaks. I just put the con-bread in the oven and the collards are starting to get tender. Am I the onlyone that could eat collards and cornbread for breakfast? As long as there is enough pot liquor.

I've developed a recent taste for collards and I can't see anything wrong with this combo at all!

Collards aka silver beet here, similar, my wife grows it and I use it a lot. I cooked 4 curries last night and used in 2 of them, lamb chop and silver beet curry and onion bhagees with silver beet mixed into, them. My kids say they are the best. We also get the red stalk as well.
