Em, I know it's so far from the norm, but the logic behind it makes sense.
About 15 years ago was when I first heard about grilling a steak from Frozen. I grabbed a big rib eye and gave it a shot and I'm telling you, if I didn't know it was frozen,I would have thought it was fresh.
Just sayin

Having skimmed the article, I think a dry rub comes once the direct sear is finished. They don't say anything 'bout liquid.

I'd like to try this, though! We got two more frozen steaks if they're thick enough.

I would use it incase of a late "gotta have a steak moment" BUT I prefer leaving my Victim at room temp for an hour with Zesty Italian Dressing and SPG on it while the Kingsford is gittin there. :dont:

what i do if i'm in that big of a rush is-
put the steak in the microwave at 10% while i light the gasser, or the charcoal chimney
when the fire is to cooking temp i take it out of the microwave
it's usually about half way defrosted
start it on the sear to surface color
then indirect to internal temp

what i prefer to do is to defrost the steak on my aluminum defrosting plate
it takes about an hour from hard frozen

I have taken a shine to marinating steaks, too. Keep meaning to try Italian, but currently stuck on that Balsamic stuff.

I'd put $$$ on the Black Stone any day of the week to put out a good frozen t-bone.
S&P, Grapeseed oil , high heat and a steamer lid.
