Fake Jerky

Postby Stan41 » Fri Jan 02, 2009 6:48 pm

I made "fake" jerky today.
Not quite the same as real jerky, but very good for someone like me with some missing teeth.

Ground Round JERKY

3.00 Lbs Ground round steak with all fat removed
3 Tablespoons Fajita Seasoning

4 Tablespoons Worchestershire Sauce
2 tsp. liquid smoke
2 tsp Tender Quick
Coarse Ground Black Pepper on top after you get the strips in dehydrator.

Mix all together and put through jerky gun. Dry in dehydrator.

I'd think, just me, that a three day rest in the fridge would be order so the MTQ has some time to do its magic before the dehydration begins? :dont:

stan, I sometimes use 93% lean beef and add jerky seasonings to that, squirt it through a jerky gun in sticks and dehydrate that. Turns out real good!

I have made those jerky sticks before. They are really good. I received some LEM jerky seasoning at Christmas. Made some of the LEM jerky, but liked my own recipe better.
