unexpected smoke today

Postby perryranch » Sat Mar 29, 2008 1:35 pm

Well DH and I found our veggie freezer had come unplugged and things were about midway thawed out. Probem was there was a couple of packs of meat in there. Since they are over half way thawed I figured I might as well fire up the pit. I have 2 pieces of goat back and 2 t-bones. The pit is started and waiting to reach temp and the meat has been hoochied. Didn't expect to Q this weekend after a long weekend of doing it last weekend but hey who can so no to fire up the pit and throwing some meat on.

Pics to come

Good unexpected sunshine on an otherwise dreary old day. Think the smell of woodsmoke wafting in the air would brighten up all the homies in the hood over around my crib.

Are you smoking the t-bones too? Curious because I just bought a couple strip steaks to try by smoking first then finishing direct.

Good thing you found it before ya lost everything though!

goat and T-bones - what a combo.
Since the veggies are thawing out, also, you thought about throwing some of them on the smoker? Don't know what you got, but, wrap it in foil and chunk in on.

Recall a fella somewhere who specialized in smoking a whole bone in rib eye for a short while..then wrap and refrigerate till the next day or two then he cut it into steaks for the grill. Sure steaks pick up mo smoke than a whole rebeye. Smart thinking.
