I bought some Frontier brand lump from Home Depot on Sunday and cranked out a full-on 700 degrees burn to make sure anything left in there was officially gone. I still have to clean and season the cap one of these days. I am really wanting to try pizza on it soon.

Hopefully you didn’t fry your gasket. Some folks talk about doing a cleaning burn and end up frying their gasket.

I don’t recommend cleaning burns. 600 degrees for an hour or so.
You fry your gasket, then
Say bad words and sin, then
Feel guilty.

I like Frontier brand in fact I like most any brand but difficult to beat the price of Frontier.

I agree.

A lot of BGE owners just look at the ceramic for temps. The gasket is the limiting factor. The OEM gasket fries quickly at temps above 600 degrees.

I don't do thermonuclear clean burns on my BGE.
