Smoke bologna???

Postby Copasspupil » Sun Mar 22, 2020 5:46 pm

Speak to me on it? I used to eat this stuff every week but I have not had it in some 45 years. What’s the story with it?

I love it. Score it in a cross cross pattern, rub it down with yellow mustard and your favorite rub. Toss it on the smoker for a couple of hours. Slice, eat, freeze but mainly enjoy.

Have not done this but their is a another school of thought that slices and then smokes. I might try this next time.

I can usually find the whole chubs at Walmart and cut them in half so they stand up when smoking

I've done it too, with a four lb chunk.
It was nice and smokey and the first bites were great and then the boredom set in, it IS just baloney and smoked or not, still just baloney.

One of the reasons I’m thinking about slicing thick, rubbing then smoking next time. Every slice will be like those end slices.

I think I may have mentioned this before. But I was at a cook off many years ago at traders village up in Dallas. There was a guy that was smoking a whole bologna, and he had taken a piece of pvc pipe and coded out the middle. Maybe 2 or 3 in piece. He then stuffed it with pimento cheese. Capped the ends back up and smoked it. But I suspect you could stuff it with whatever you would want to try.

I didn’t eat any of it, so I would be lying if I said anything otherwise. But my buddy did, he said it was good. And once the pimento cheese heated up it became a little runny, he had to kind of scoop it up and put it on the sandwich as well. But I am a fan of bologna in general. Have some Oscar Mayer on hand right now.

Make a sammy with buttered grilled Texas toast, melted cheese and mustard. Frito's and bean dip on the side. Wash it all down with a cold beer or sweet tea. Man oh man, it'll make your tummy smile! :laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

I'm a fan! I smoke a couple of chubs of bologna each year. Slice thick, toss on white bread with a little mustard - mmmMMMMmmm! Sometimes I even kick that up a notch and fry in a pan after sliced for a little smo-fried action. :laughing7: I mean, its less than $5 for a whole chub. Give it a whirl!

I can't always please everybody. I'm not bacon.
