Cook Timeline Organization

Postby Slippy » Thu Jan 24, 2019 12:25 pm

I'm kinda forgetful on the weekends, especially if the beer gets to flowing... I created this timeline for my cooks that I use as a guide, not a rigid, must-do schedule. Just something to make sure I don't completely skip a step... Might be cool if it was an app, that could give little alarms at each step... I only really do this for multiple meats. Although I will go ahead and do one for briskets, just so I can get handle on when I need to get started...

Those are great! I love this topic of time organization. I find myself starting at the target time we want to eat and then having to look through my log of past cooks to try to figure out when to get things started, etc. and it's a pain. I need to figure out how to streamline it better.
Barbecue may not be the road to world peace, but it's a start.

One Beef one pork... It was only for 4 guys, so it was enough. But one of them was an important client, so I wanted to make sure I didn't screw something up.

When I cater for a wedding I have to do the same thing. I will make my a time line in reverse. Starting with time serving and then work my way back through the whole cook all the way to the prep. It is very time consuming but necessary. You always have to leave yourself some time for if something doesn't go right.

Have you seen the "the pit pal bbq app" for Android? Don't know if it's available for iPhone.. It seems to be able to give you warnings underway. Also integrates with a couple of temperature gauges. Haven't used it but found it in Google play store now.ImageImage

No, I hadn't seen that. I do use an iPhone, and have looked in the app store a little, but there are too many to tell what is good and what is junk... I'll look this one up. Thanks!

They do have this app for iOS. If you use the supported controllers it should be helpful.
