Nice day for a smoke
Chuck roasts were really cheap at Krogers so I decided to try my hand at smoking 2 of them like brisket, along with chicken, ribs, and pork tenderloin.

Very nice. I gotta get by Kroger’s. I smoke chuck for pulled beef tacos. Also FYI - Market Street has choice brisket for $1.77 through Tuesday.

I thought those ribs smelled a little funny. They were ruined... rancid. Threw them out. Chicken and Pork Tenderloin turned out great though. Chuck roasts are still cooking.

Now for the chuck roast. It tastes great and is juicy. I don't like slicing it at all. Think I will stick to brisket next time.

That is Larapin Lookin, B.C. however, I see what you mean about the slicing - - - maybe a close up exam and "pre-scoring" before cooking might help some?

Re: Nice day for a smoke
I might OUP. Those Chuck roasts have grain going in all directions though. I might just chop a lot of it up to make sammiches and like bsooner said street tacos.

Looked great! I gotta ask though, what brand ribs? What was the smell? Was it like a thick, sulfur smell?

They did not have a name brand on them. I bought them at Krogers. It smelled like ruined meat. I thought it might just be the blood.
