Thawing a packer other than in fridge?

Postby Chasdev » Fri Mar 09, 2018 5:16 pm

I was going to do a 24 hour pellet spitter brisket earlier this week but the weather guessers made me paranoid about rain frying my pelletizer's electronics, so I froze my prime 16 lb packer.
Weather next week is looking perfect for a long cook but my fridge is packed with other goodies so I can't do my normal thaw routine.
Can I thaw it in a cooler perhaps with some frozen gel packs, or by itself?

My briskets usually come vac sealed so I just thaw in a sink full of cold water.

Put it in a cooler with water let thaw then ice it down.
