I know my brother from Friendswood, TX calls me in Washington state about advise on BBQing. Sounds funny enough already. Yoder pellet YS640 competition vs loaded Wichita. Which one he says? He has a traeger lit'tex and desires more smoke and "up his game". No desire for a green egg or primo.

I have no idea on the Yoder pellet series but built my smoker after the Wichita with some Kingston add ons. Does anyone have any real experience with either of these? The price is the same and weight is similar. He's picking one of them up Sunday and looking for any real experience people have here that can help him make a decision.

He's buying it from Chilling and Grilling in Granger. He concern is the lovely bark you get with brisket. The dealer told him to buy some smoke tube to aid in the smoke. They told him that you can't tell a difference once the meat is done. Really??

Don’t buy Yoder stick. Much better stick burners out there

This is purely MY EXPERIENCE with my Pit Boss Pellet Grill and I've been doing it this way and couldn't be more satisfied. The "convenience" of the Pellet Grill is sure nice for this ol man.

"I make sure that my meat has extra time at the low temps where the Pellet Poopers produce more smoke and even tho it lengthens my cook time, it is a win win for me. At first I used the AMAZ'N smoke tray but I decided to not use it and just add low temp time."

Tell him to keep cooking on the Model T until he is satisfied with the results.
There is always a learning curve when using a new tool and any one with a pellet cooker that says "not enough smoke" is saying to me "I haven't learned how to use this thing yet".
Been using pellet pits for 20 years along with other pits including a Old Hickory SSE (It is better) and firmly believe one can produce good Q on most any smoker once they learn the tool.
BTW the Lil Tex is a favorite among comp cookers for doing chicken.

I just bought the Fast Eddie PG 500... I’ve only cooked on it twice so far and love it.... Low temps will give you all the smoke you desire... The Yoder YS640 was the tugawar in my own mine... Beautiful machine... PG 500 one the battle b/c it’s all stainless... I’m very happy with my purchase.... I work overseas and can’t wait to get back to Texas to perfect my skills on my new cooker... I’ve been a stick guy all my life... I’m now a proud Pellet Pooper... Here’s a pick from my second cook.... Ray

Last week I did a 16lb packer in my CampChef pellet burner, ran it for 26 hours just about as low as it would run, up until I got tired waiting and needed to allow three or four hours in the ice chest after pulling..so I raised the temp to 270 for two hours to get up to 200 internal, then off it came and it is/was the most tender juicy brisket ever..even the flat was point tender..
Deep smoke ring, great smoke flavor (although not the same as from a stick burner), and best of all, I forgot it was cooking more than once.
