Grill mounted thermometer

Postby Fooldancing » Sat Jun 10, 2017 9:14 am

If I were to add an additional thermometer or move the on that mounted in order to get a more accurate temp for smoking, where would be the best place to mount one? I mounted one on the lid around the top warming rack.

Adding temp probes at the cook grate level is pretty common, I added more than one to track the hot and colder spots along the length of the cook area.
Some guys like to stick them through a small potato to keep the heat from migrating up the metal clip and into the probe.

I added lid gauges to all three of my BBQ Pits and I must truthfully say that I take every one "with a grain of salt' but they do keep me in the ballpark so to speak. Good Luck and let us know what you decide and how it performs for ya. :salut:

I did add one when I brought her home. I wasn't sure if I needed one at grate level, or close to that. I,will most definitely keep y'all posted as to how just the one works. I'll try with only the one for now, and add if needed.
Thank you for the positive feedback
