Homemade Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce
I have tried all kinds of BBQ sauce recipes over the years and this is the combination of them all I liked the best !!
2 cups katshup
1/4 cider vinegar
1/4 Worcheshire sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar (more or less to taste)
2 Tbls. molasses
2 Tbls. mustard
2 Tbls. Tabasco (I like the one Schlotzkys sells)
2 Tbls. BBQ rub
2 Tsp. liguid smoke
1/2 Tsp. pepper
Mix add to a sauce pan and bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.

It is basically what it says, it's a liquid, smoke flavoring. There are different companys that make it. Here is a picture of the one I use, when I use it. It comes in different flavors of smoke. All I ever see in stores are mesquite and hickory. It seems like I have seen an apple wood flavor too. It is usually around the steak sauce and bbq suace in the store.
It's okay to disagree with me......you can be wrong if you want to.

Tried this tonight. It was quite good. Added a little more brown sugar and molasses. Also made a batch without the Tabasco, don't think wife will like the heat. I used a tbsp each of hoochie mamma and hog waller.
I haven't played with too many sauces but this one is the best I've tried so far.

Very close to my recipe only I use 1 tsp blk pepper and Gebhardts chili powder instead of rub. Good stuff!
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Re: Homemade Sweet & Spicy BBQ Sauce
I made this sauce this morning. I'm refrigerating it now along with roxys mustard sauce and another nc vinegar sauce for some pulled pork and ribs this evening.
I have bombed in the past trying to make homemade BBQ sauce. But I tasted it and I think it's darn good. Hope everyone else likes it tonight. I could finally have a go to sauce.
Thank you!!!!!

I like this on too but I use 1 cup of V8 spicy along with the catchup and instead of molasses i use Steen's pure cane syrup and then cook in down for about 1 hr on the top of the stove

? - By the time you buy all the ingredients to make your own isn't it cheaper just to buy one you like?

Commander, went waaaaayyyyy back in the archives to pull this one up ...
Rambo- if you like more of a savory/ smokey sauce Head's is pretty fitting, no so much if you prefer the sweet sauces.
