Who Gives a "FIG" ?

Postby OldUsedParts » Wed Jun 07, 2017 9:38 am

I do and therefore I pick lots of the purple monsters this time of year. As I've mentioned, most of these are for the Family or maybe a Quick Bread for the Wiffy. Well this morning, "just for me", I used about 10 large and beautiful ones to try and make something similar to Aaron Franklin's Fig Sauce. (recipe is online)

Of course I never do anything without tweeking it some so this batch has a heaping Tblsp of Sweet Baby Rays and some generous dollops of Russ's homemade mater sauce he so generously send me last year. My conscience would not let me dump 1.5 cups of "catsup" in that pot so I used a little over 1/2 cup and the above ingredients to make take up the necessary space. It also contains about 3 tblsp of Suckle Busters Jalapeno Pepper Jelly  the last of a bottle but I still have two more so it's not panic time yet.

Here's a pic of the mornings harvest, the sauce ingredients and the sauce simmering.
More later if it doesn't end up in the Toilet - - - we'll see  :chef:

It looks and sounds like it would be delicious if you had left them figs out of the mix!!

:laughing7: :D  the FIGS were the Reasoning for the Seasoning and let me tell Y'all that it has a genuine "kick" to it - - - I love it  but there's no way the Wiffy will touch it. :angryfire: Made two pints and I'm thinking the first trail will be some Wangs, even tho the primary thought was for a Pig Glaze.

Gotta have a name, however, :?: whatcha think about OUP's ORNERY FIG OIL :dont:
