Jack's Old South BBQ Rub

Jack's Old South BBQ Rub:
Jack's Old South BBQ Rub


1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sweet paprika
1/4 cup kosher salt
3 tablespoons black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon dried basil

Combine all ingredients and mix well.

Yields 3/4 cup.

What would you use this rub with... :?:
And (please don't take this the wrong way :shock: ) how come a LOT of the recipes have this enormous (in our Oz opinion) amount of sweet paprika being used? :?
BTW 90% of the rub recipes I use are from the states and not too many complaints by my neigbours/friends/family/colleagues/etc yet

You could use it on any type of meat-pork butts-chicken-brisket-anything you want. :D :D
The paprika adds a subtle layer of flavor and it also adds color to the outside of the meat when cooked. :D

Yes sir, I have used it on all different kinds of meats. Goes great on pork and brisket. Never tried it on chicken, but may just give it a go. The main reason I gave this rub a go was for the peach baked beans, those things are delicious!!!
