Your ideas on rubs..

Postby Americana Cookers » Wed Mar 28, 2012 3:27 pm

I have been using Texas Bbq Rubs for awhile and im looking to change it up, just not seeing the results at the comps. What are yalls opinions on texas Bbq Rubs products? I received a sample of Suckle busters comp rub but have not used it yet. I was also contemplating on mixing my own rubs. What are yalls thoughts?

That's like askin Fat cap up or down! But you asked so... I'm a cheap SOB and I like to play with my food SO I mix my own but I don't compete either I'm the judge. I will say this with that in mind. You got say 60 cooks turnin in brisket, if 20 use the same rub & wood and cook basically the same( for arguments sake say H&F) the only real difference is the Cow. If your flavor profile stands out above the others because you mix your own your chances are better to win. JM2C
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

I like this one and you make it up your self and adjust to your liking if you can't have that much salt or anything else adjust

Texas Style Brisket Rub

This southwestern-style rub is a great way to spice up brisket. Remember, when applying run to a brisket, work the rub into the meat anywhere it is exposed. works good on Pork Butt also
Makes about 1 cup
Ingredients:

• 3 tablespoons salt
• 2 tablespoons garlic powder
• 2 tablespoons onion powder
• 1 tablespoon black pepper
• 1 tablespoon dried parsley
• 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
• 2 teaspoons ground cumin
• 1 teaspoon ground coriander
• 1 teaspoon dried oregano
• 1/4 teaspoon hot chili powder
One Weber Genesis Silver, One Weber 22-1/2" Kettle, one Weber 18-1/2" WSM, One Long Horn Offset, One Bradley Smoker, And One Large Big Green Egg....And Now a Orange Thermapen!
