What's you bias? Sweet, tart, level of heat, oddball ingredients etc
Most times I skip the sauce or at best it's on the table. The exception to the rule is Pulled Pork then a Lexington style vinegar sauce is a must.
Not being a big fan of sugary sauces, if I offer a 'thick' sauce it is SuckleBusters. Enough sweet to satisfy those with sweet soothes but not so sweet that I can't stomach it.

This may sound weird but I have mixed Sweet Baby Ray's and Stub's in equal parts and got a real nice table sauce with no cooking required. Otherwise I'd start with one of these and doctor it up like crazy. Are you Q-ing for the event or looking to give a gift? Obviously if you are catering the event I would suggest making a scratch sauce. Alternatively, The Saltlick BBQ's original sauce is an unique sweet delight that most anyone will find palatable and would make a great gift.

Personally, I don't know of a "single" tomato based commercial BBQ sauce that I would recommend, having tried only a small fraction of them, to be sure, and doctoring most by the end.
Cheers

Re: Best BBQ sauce yu ever had!
I rarely use BBQ sauce, but when I do I make my own:
PLANTATION BARBECUE SAUCE
1 6 Oz. can Tomato Paste
1 cup water
1/4 cup Wesson Oil
1/2 cup bottled steak sauce (Heinz)
1/3 cup lemon juice
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup minced onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 tsp. Tabasco Sauce
In saucepan combine all ingredients; simmer 15 min. Use as basting sauce for poultry, beef, spareribs, frankfurters. Makes 2-1/2 cups
Best I ever ate!

If you cook it right Ya don't need no stinking Sauce, good "Q" should stand on it's own merits. Just my two bits.
