Did anyone catch that 1 hour show on the Food Network on BBQ joints in the US? they went to the four major BBQ regions and highlighted a few places from each and then did a taste test competition out in California with a bunch of cattle ranchers. pretty good little documentary.
The competition seemed a little unfair though in that you're not really comparing apples to apples. N Carolina Q is completely different than Texas Q, as are all the others.

I've seen that before, it's a great show! Your right about the differences, and it's a matter of what style of Q you like the best.

Food Network? It's been on the Travel Channel or some similar
cable entity for a couple of years.
Yeah, I'm from North Carolina, but it don't bother me that a bunch of
brokeback California cowboys don't like our q.
Doesn't the term California cowboy immediately make you think
of San Francisco, the most brokeback city in the world?
NC Q ain't for everyone, and I sincerely hope it's never
popular in California. That would be just wrong.

Cappy, what sets Carolina Q apart from the rest of the universe? I imagine it's the mustard sauce, no wait - the vinegar sauce, no wait it the whole hog chopped up part... heck, I don't know that's why I'm asking. Plug your site while you're at it

there is no mustard in NC except on hot dogs and potato salad.
SC is where the mustard is, and only in part of the state.
As for your question, I will try to remember to state my thoughts
if I remember. It's poker night, and I've got a head start.
