Dat's Good Que - Lewisville

Postby nascarchuck » Fri Feb 09, 2007 10:53 pm

Hey Gator

I see that you are in Coppell. Have you (or anyone else here) eaten at Dat's Good Que on Main St in Lewisville?

On another board that I am on, about 15 or so of us are having lunch there in a week or two. Just wondering if it's good?

Chuck,

I ate there once. It's been a couple of years ago. Its one of those "country style places" that is in the city. Best I can remember the food was ok and the people were real nice, but I havent been back. I think there were just opening when I was there...sad to say, but great Q is real hard to find in Dallas.

Safe Travels, honk when you go by. :D

Never had any Q in Dallas, Dan but I have seen Rachael Ray hype Sonny Bryans on several shows. Is it any good or is it overhyped?

Dallas,

The original Sonny Bryans (still run by the original owners, I think) still has a good thing going. Really good and is about the best in Dallas that I know of...They also franchised the name and have a few of those around town and they are an average BBQ joint - about like Spring Creek or any of the other franchise joints. Very average.

Im sure someone else can speak up on your favorite spot in Dallas - I would love to find a "GREAT" Q joint nearby. To get Great BBQ you have to leave Dallas, sad to say.

The closest really good joint I know of is in Tioga, TX, Clarks Outpost - up on Lake Ray Roberts. About 45 - 1 hour north and dang sure worth the drive, IMO.

Hey Dallas... I used to eat at Sonny Bryan's about twice a month when I worked a part time job in Downtown Ft. Worth. It was pretty good, but that was 10 years ago.

Gator, Spring Creek is about the only place that my wife will eat Q. It's not too bad, but the sauce is a little sweet.

I like Cousin's BBQ in Ft. Worth. At work they will cater Cousins now and again. The closest to you is in Keller. Never been to that one though. Brisket is pretty good. Don't normally eat ribs out, so I don't know how good those are there. Sausage is really good.

Chuck,

I ate at Spring Creek a couple of weeks ago and had ribs. Danged if they wernt pretty good. They were fresh, and to me that makes all the difference in the world. Spring Creek has it days.

Guess I need to give Cousins a try.

A great day (to me) is Ribs at the Country Tavern in Kilgore, Brisket at Coopers in Llano or almost anything in Lockhart. They are all Great BBQ.

There is a place up north of Tulsa OK, called Macs BBQ - Great beef. He scoops up big piles of meat and slaps it down on a lunch room tray, wax paper, no plate, then heaps sauce all over the place. Lots of bread. As much sides as you can handle. Beer.

...man I could talk about BBQ Joints forever.

If you have time - please give us a report on the Lewisville joint. Like I said, they was real nice folks and I hope they are putting out good que.

Well, I will try to give a review, but I'm not good at that. To me, almost all Q is good!

The guy that's getting all of this together says that this is the best Q that he has found in the DFW area. He seems to be knowledgable about Q, so we'll see!
