BBQ Bucket List Tour Part Two

Well tomorrow I start my BBQ Bucket List Tour Part Two. Departing Phoenix for San Antonio. Try to hit Buzzie's in Kerrville for dinner, and then on in to SA. Spend Wednesday with friends, and dinner at Lulu's, CFS and the 4.5# cinnamon roll. Thursday on to Gonzales, LA. Meet up with friends and some fine Cajun cooking. On Sunday, driving old highway 61 from Baton Rouge to Memphis. See how many BBQ Tamales I can eat on the way. Spend a couple of days with friends in the Memphis area, and then it's off to the Royal. After a week in KC, it's south to OKC to see friends. And then back to SA for a week with friends and lots of BBQ trip from there. There are still places I missed on my spring trip to Austin/San Antonio.

I heard tell of a Store up there in the Volunteer that sells Bib overalls by Omar the tent maker you may wanna look that up them tamales will git ya :laughing7: Hare a Safe trip Amigo!~
Never met a cow I didn't like with a little salt and pepper.

Man I hung out at the TMMBQ fest with Ernest Cervantes who competed against Buzzies on BBQ pitmasters and he was telling us how bad Buzzies was, but since he didn't have a cowboy hat and look country, he didn't win in Texas against Buzzie. He said everyone on the set finished off his brisket and nobody touched Buzzies. So, we happened to stop by Buzzies tent at the fest and Buzzie cut us off some brisket. Geez, Ernest was right. It was terribly dry and just boring. So if you go there, don't set your expectations too high. Now, I was really impressed with Opies which is pretty close to Buzzies, just fyi.

Tried Buzzies at the festival last year & we weren't impressed. Couldn't believe the line opies was getting this year. Wish I had hit them up before they let GA in. Heard they had butter beans & tater tot casserole as well.

Maybe you should load up some sausage. Could trade for gas.

I've got a marine cooler full of sausage with me. You know I was at Buzzies last Mothers Day. The place was empty, but open. Went in and ordered some fatty brisket. The kid pulled it out of the server, and sliced it in front of me. And you couldn't have asked for a better example of Texas Brisket. My experience was very random. And the meat was enjoyable. Sausage was pretty much main stream, good but not outstanding. Thanks for the input, as I may not get there this trip after all. Only made Fort Stockton today, early in the morning on to SA.

I'd like to try it at the restaurant. I'm sure it's a better representation to what they can do as opposed to a mobile pit in a festival environment.
