Lockhart Smokehouse Plano

Postby bsooner75 » Thu Feb 13, 2014 3:05 pm

Apparently they were trying to soft open and work out some kinks. Thanks to the Dallas Morning News for letting the cat out of the bag.

Hit it up for lunch today and it was some mighty good eatin'!

Had a couple of spares, half pound of moist brisket and a ring of Kruez jalapeño sausage. As well as some baked beans. Needless to say I'm stuffed.ImageImage

I sure hope it's better than the one in Dallas at Bishop. I was really disappointed the couple of times I went. I'm really glad it was an enjoyable meal for ya, and I can't wait to give it a shout soon! :salut:

Thanks much for the heads-up! I didn't even know they were putting one in Plano.

I hit the one up in Bishop when they first opened. It was ok but not great based mainly on the brisket. Love the Kruez sausage either way. Noticed at the TX Monthly Bbq festival the brisket was much better. What I had at the Plano location to me was spot on. It's kind of cool to now have both Lockhart & Hutchins on the north side of town. Both are really good but different enough they will appeal to different tastes.

Here is a pic tweeted by TX Monthly. On the left is brisket from Lockhart Bishop arts when they first opened. On the right is Plano.

Apparently the wife was none to happy at me for going without her. So, I made it up to her & the kids by making a second trip. Gee what punishment [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES].

Everything was still great. Their weakest meat is spare ribs (but heck it's mine too). As long as they keep the brisket & sausage the same I'll keep going back.

Thank You to all the fine folks here for all the tips and advice so I can now smoke a chunk of meat and folks actually eat it.

Old downtown area. Dinner service starts at 6. We got there at 5:30 & were second in line. By 6 they were out the door and down the sidewalk a ways.

Went for lunch. Some of the best brisket I have ever eaten, ribs were good but not great, sausage was Kruez so you know it's good. So glad to add this to my mix of Hutchins and 3 StacksImage
