+1 on Tex Mex.

-> Casa Rio (river walk), La Fogata, (north of downtown). Mi Tierra's (in the market)...pretty touristy, but all good IMO.

Yup, I've heard/read that San Antonio is a BBQ wasteland. CountyLine is the popular place down there. There are several of them in SA. If you are driving, you will be going past a ton a great spots in the Austin area though.

Can't say we have any BBQ joints to brag about. Rudy's would be the closest thing to good Q and let's be honest, it falls short. There are a few small joints around town, but idk if they are any good as I have not ventured out to try them. Always welcome to just come over and try sum of my Q.

TexMex, Tomatillos off of Broadway. Great margaritas and it is were the locals go, it is near the zoo.

I like the atmosphere at Dick's last Resort on the RiverWalk, good food, and cold beer.
There is a Rudy's across from SeaWorld , it is ok for a chain but I would rather hit a local TexMex.
Also from Man vs Food, hit up Chunky's for burgers or LuLu's, famous for there cinnamon rolls.

Thanks everyone! We're leaving around 5 am Friday and coming back to Huntsville Sunday afternoon. We should have time to hit a few of the places y'all listed. Sounds like a Tex Mex weekend!

I'm there starting Monday, thanks for the tips.

Donk, I will throw in Paloma Blanca in Alamo Heights on the NE side inside the loop. Rockin tex mex and high quality margaritas. Not a cheap place but to me, the food cuts the mustard, and they have a great patio. Nice place.

We are headed back this morning and we had a great time! We managed to get a cinnamon roll at Lulu's, pictures do not do these things justice, and puffy tacos at Los Barrios. Both places were excellent and had awesome service. I would recommend either place to anyone and will be a repeat customer, to both places, on our next visit.

Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone!
