New North Texas BBQ'er needs help
Howdy BBQ'ers. New to this site but it looks to be fun and informative. I am looking for help in selecting a BBQ joint for pork ribs for the "Rib Club" I belong to in Southlake Texas. We have met monthly for over 5 years and each month one person is responsible for providing great ribs from anywhere in the world EXCEPT for the surrounding counties in and around the metroplex. Over the last 5 years we have had ribs from a lot of great places, Clarks in Tioga, Rendevous in Memphis, Carsons in Chicago, Roadhouse in Lampassas and the list goes on and on. My turn to provide ribs is coming up soon and I need to locate a new great rib place (can't repeat a rib joint that has already provided the club with ribs). I prefer a dry rub type rib, not too heavy on the rub with a vinegar type sauce available. ANY recommendations would be appreciated!!!

Thanks Guys. The Tavern is outstanding but has already been used. I may try to post the places n Texas that have been used to hopefully narrow this down but any secret honey holes are appreciated.

If you can hit Austin, pick up some from Franklin's. Salt Lick in Round Rock has decent ribs, and a sauce that is very unique. I love the sauce, about the only sauce I really like, though the meat is just decent, nothing special.

OK, not a famous place but still good ribs. Texas Pit BBQ on Main Street in Saginaw Texas. Their ribs are as good as any mentioned above and it's close to Southlake.

I really appreciate those suggestions. Saginaw is right down the road so I plan to make a trip there soon.
Unfortunately I HAVE to go outside the metroplex for my rib club duties. If anybody else has a suggestion, please let me know.

We vend ribs a few times a year for family fun and to support non-profit events such as Chambers etc., while making a little money.
If it would help we could supply you ribs for your club www.texasribwagon.com under the condition that you provide a Fedex, UPS acct # to pay shipping fees. If you like the ribs pay what you feel is a fair price - if you don't like them then pay nothing.
Secondly if you do not like the ribs - tell everyone, likewise if you like 'em tell everyone.
Let us know.

I'll second the Stanley's in Tyler recommendation for pork ribs
Other options: Smitty's/Lockhart.......Fargo's Pit/Bryan.........Opie's/Spicewood
Does the rib club allow beef ribs?
Good beef ribs:
J Mueller in Austin
