Howdy

Postby PeterB123 » Mon Jun 10, 2019 11:33 am

I'm Peter, if you didn't get that from my username. lol

A little about myself:

I've been on a BBQ team for about 6 years now. It's a "fun" team that averages about 3 comps a year. It's been mainly for the fun, but we are now beginning to get a little more serious.

Personally (non-team equipment), I have a medium sized BGE that I've used for doing pork shoulders, flats and chickens, along with the occasionally turkey, for a number of years. I've done a number of full briskets on my neighbor's Pitmaker vault.

My older brother gave me a hybrid pit/grill (mostly grill) a couple years back that he built. I had been considering adding a smoke box to it and converting it to a full-time smoker, but I've decided I'm going to go pellet feeder, and my Pellet Pro hopper assembly will be arriving today. I'll just need to cut the hole and bolt holes and fabricate the defection plate and drippings port. The pit weighs about 8 billion pounds; he used heavy gauge steel. I'm trying to decide if I want to add counter weights to the lid to make it easier for me to lift or if I want it to remain heavy as heck to deter people from taking peeks, lol.

Anyways, I hope this is a good forum. This is the first BBQ forum I've joined, and I hope I can just stay here. lol. I also pray politics are avoided here like the plague.

You know, we did have a politician show up here once. Fellow from Tampa. Stomped in the front door, talking big, making a fuss, telling everybody what to do, all hat and no cattle. We took him round back, and he hasn't been seen since. Heard he ending up hauling garbage in Sarasota.

It's all about fun and friends and good cookin and family and telling jokes and good cookin and interesting exotic meats and good cookin, and by the way, did I mention we cook a bit? We got Texans and Washingtonians and Oakies and Cajuns and Pocononians and Mainelanders and a Kiwi who's into the ponies and Finns from Germany and Germans from Germany who didn't want to go to Finland, and a Viking from Norway who is distantly related to the King who has a talent for boating and digging his own pool, along with some good cooking.

We respect the Flag and support our Vets, but beyond that generally keep our politics and religion generally to ourselves and respect is the watchword. And no cursing is permitted, d!%$#tt!!.

Have fun and welcome.

You nailed it, Peter, if someone posts a Political Thread here, it's Term Limit would be just long enuff for a Deputy to see it or be notified by a Member.

They all agree it's the best meal they've eaten all week and live happily ever after...
