Greetings from Florida

Postby andipoll » Wed Oct 18, 2017 10:27 pm

Hey everyone. Andy from Florida, via the UK. Born in England years ago. My interest in Texas BBQ is very recent, having experienced John Lewis's brisket in Charleston. The day before I'd eaten SC BBQ at Rodney Scott's, which was OK but once I tasted John Lewis's BBQ, I was hooked. Just been on a 2-week BBQ tour of Texas, with the wife, and what a great time it was! Met lots of famous pitmasters but none as pleasant and likeable as Roy Perez. Talked to us for a good 20 minutes about BBQ and lots of other things. At the end he presented us with 2 free 'Kreuz' T-shirts. What a guy! Now on the path to building a brick smoker in the backyard. Done loads of research. I think building the smoker will be the easiest bit but the thought of producing my own beef brisket is pretty exciting. Glad to be here.
