South Texas New Guy

Postby Sgtslick » Tue Mar 31, 2015 2:45 am

Howdy All,
My Name is Rick, I'm originally from Dallas but moved down here about 9 years ago for work. I live in Kingsville TX. and I have been smoking Briskets and Ribs for about 4 years. My current cooker is an all in one(Gas Grill, Charcoal pit with Fire box)-4 years old, and is on its last leg. Its time for a real pit/smoker that's going to last and I am looking into several different makes/models-Lyfe Tyme, Gator, B&R, Helotes-and a couple others, all of which look great! I am planning to get one soon(or at least on order) and have it broke in and smoking before Memorial Day. With all the Mesquite trees down here...its hard not to want to fire up the pit or smoke something all the time. Thank You.

welcome to the forums. In my personal experience, you have to be careful with the mesquite, it can be quite strong.
