Howdy from Dallas

Postby Sloaf » Fri Jun 29, 2007 4:23 pm

Hey gang-

I just got my first smoker (Weber Smokey Mountain) two months ago, and have been having a great time practicing "real" BBQ. I've been an avid griller for about 12 years, and have done some pretty decent brisket and ribs using foil smoke pouches in my Weber Genesis gasser. I'm finding the true smoker MUCH easier, with even better results.

Anyhow, I recognize a few of the names here from the Virtual Weber Bullet forums (where I'm also a newb), and thought I'd join up here to see about more local info on suppliers, BBQ festivals/comps, etc. I'm not a competitor myself (at least no time soon) but I'd love to check one out to see how they go.

Here's hoping the weather holds out for some great smoking this weekend and for the Fourth!
