One time two men were traveling in Texas and they kept seeing the Hwy Sign telling them that they were approaching the town of MEXIA. One of the men commented "looks like were fixin to go thru Ma-Hay-A" and the other man replied "that's Mex-ee-ya" not "Ma-Hay-A".
Well, they argued back and forth and decided to pull into a local business when they got to town and find out how to pronounce the name. When they got into town they pulled into the first place of business they found and went inside. A Lady that worked there greeted them and asked if she could help them.
Then the one man said "we have been arguing about how to pronounce the name of this place so could you tell us the correct pronunciation and do it real slow so we understand?" She then replied "Dare-Ree-Kween"
