Re: New Evolution Discovery
I know - - - yesterday when we were going to and from The Farmhouse Cafe we drove thru a lot of Sam Houston State Teachers College and not just some but "every" one (?student?) we saw walking had both hands and eyes on their apparatus. It didn't matter whether they were walking, waiting on the "walk" light to change or just standing with friends, the scene was always the same. So very sad that they are missing so much and don't even know it or even care as far as that goes.

Re: New Evolution Discovery
that is so darn true....I was in a restourant a few days ago and right beside my table there was a family composed by: mom, daddy and two 6(I guess) years old kids, for the most part of the time they spent their dinner looking and texting at the phone instead of chatting like normal people. I made me feel a little sad...I am so glad when I was a kid I didn't have any technological distraction, the cellphone technology was at the beginning and nobody was typing the darned phone during the whole day.
I am concious the technology has improved our life but we should control our behaviour and, most important, keep the children away from this kind of technological pollution.

Man, if we had camera phones and social media when I was growing up…
I’ll stop right there so I don’t incriminate myself :)

Re: New Evolution Discovery
We have a sideboard here, when the family turn up on a Sunday for our regular family dinner. You have to put your phone on it. No one takes calls or texts or giggles.
I was out for our dinner club meal 2 days ago, one of the guys was talking about this same thing. He had one of his bosses from Australia over at his work, he wanted my friend to take him to a pub and watch a game of rugby. He took him, and couldn't believe the guy spent about 70 of the 80 min game on his phone. He couldn't believe how rude it was.

Yes, I believe that using the phone when you are with other people having dinner or whatever is definitely rude...However people don't get it so easy... but beside the fact of phone-addiction the real problem is the social network-addiction: the kids "overshare" their life throught the socials and at some point they confuse the "show" with what is real and, further than this, they are unawares loosing their personal privacy.

LOL - some of my dumb stunts would’ve had “destination Rusk” written all over them.

I think Travis Pastrana was born because they didn't have that technology when I was a kid either.

Many times I have used the explanation to my Kids that my Parents used.
