Once upon a time there were two friends that were traveling North on I-45 and after they had exited on Hwy 179.
They headed West and one of them said "Look at the Sign, we're fixing to go through 'Mex-E-Ah'. The other friend said
"It's not pronounced 'Mex-E-Ah', it's pronounced 'Mah-Hey-Ya' ! Well, they continued arguing and finally got to Mexia and
stopped for a quick bite to eat. When the Waitress came to their table, one of them said "Mam, we have been arguing on the proper way
to say the name of this place. Could you tell us the proper pronunciation very slowly??" She said "Certainly, it's pronounced 'dare-e-queen' !
