Sitting ready in front of the TV to watch F1 from Austin, TX. Cool to see all the people. Being a Mercedes fan, I say go Hamilton and Russel. Happy as long as Verstappen doesn't win, though. Mercedes has been struggling with their car the last two years, but still optimistic.
Ps. It's just practice now but qualification later today. Sprint tomorrow and race on Sunday.

Re: Ready for formula 1 from Austin Texas
I found out a week ago that our grandson likes formula one. I was kinda surprised.
I have always liked NASCAR, but will need to give F1 a watch.

Give it a try. It's fun if you like motorsport. Today, it's sprint, and that's often action. F1 cars are faster, accelerate faster, and corners faster than the Nascar. Both are very entertaining, with Nascars having longer runs with up to 3 hours race vs. F1 that has a maximum of 2 hours grand prix races and 100km sprints.bowhnter wrote:I found out a week ago that our grandson likes formula one. The last two years, Redbull with Max Verstappen has been in a class of their own with their fast car. Luckily, the rest is now catching up. Hopefully, 7 years World champion Hamilton and Mercedes are back in the competition.

There are some on this weekend. I’ll have to get my grandson down here.
He wants an Xbox pedal and wheel for Christmas.

Re: Ready for formula 1 from Austin Texas
ok late to the party as usual.....
being the prior owner of several Benz, and knowing their lineage and history, when Mercedes goes racing, they go to the best speed shop in the country and ask how much to win such and such race?
just my .02¢ on that...
as far as F1 goes, I am sure it is great, I just remember when that track here was built and the hoopla that went into it, I also remember the "professional courtesy classes" that were had in this area to encourage leniency and tolerance of peoples customs and behaviors from around the globe to encourage folks to come back to the great state of Texas, I was working at The Texas Department of Public Safety at the time upfitting patrol cars so as to have them fully ready "to deal with the firs ever F1 race in Austin".
I have been to a few races, amateur, and pro, just like competition cooking, just not my bag of marbles, but great for those that enjoy it!!
