2022 Garden Thread
Let’s hear what you’ve got going and feel free to ask questions. Even those of you in town would be surprised what you can grow in containers in your back yard.

We haven't even begun yet, but will be scaling way back to a few tomato plants, green beans, and one pepper. All in containers. You have some nice land there, Rambo!

You may need to turn a little moisture loose on that soil. Show us a picture of that tiller.

It’s sugar sand. Scratch the top 2” and it’s wet. I monitor the moisture and when May gets here I apply my “ Drip Hoses “ that are run for about an hour each morning early. I’ve got this down

Re: 2022 Garden Thread
I am but about three weeks away from tilling the soil, adding extra soil on top and then planting. From what I heard, a garden due to food supplies will be extremely helpful this summer.

Tried it the last 2 years but the rats and mice eat it before I can pick it. Their butts can starve this year

I figured you may have had one mounted behind a little tractor. It sure does a good job. But looks like it is friendly soil also.

I wish I could use one and I’d plant a larger area but I can’t because of the deer. This spot is fenced ,behind the barn , and is only 40x60 but you can grow quite a bit in that area. I keep that soil worked throughout the year and add lots of horse manure when the garden is dormant in winter months

Re: 2022 Garden Thread
That manure will take care of it. Not sure if you have ever used any fertilizer but it is through the roof. My grandparents used to garden and can. My parents never did.
