I know how to make cornbread from scratch with buttermilk or the packaged version. I didn’t need a Critique, was just pointing out this is easy and pretty good

Looks like I may have to try that....

If the dough "rolls" up I can envision a jalapeno packed in there somewhere. :chef:

I tried my hand at Hot water cornbread a while back and I have say I am hooked lol.
I used Phil Robertson's "The Duck Commander" method.

You probably have a million ways of making cornbread but I love his recipe for sweet cornbread:

400 grams of canned corn pureed with a mixer.

200 grams of flour
100 grams of sugar
1 tbsp of baking powder
1 tsp of salt
1.5 dl of milk
2 large eggs
60 grams of melted butter
0.5 dl honey

Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.

In another bowl mix the pureed corn, melted butter, honey,, eggs and milk. Then add the dry ingredients from the other bowl.

Pour the battery in a oiled or buttered cast iron skillet.

Put on the grill for 20-30 minutes.

Haven't tried that but sure sounds good.

We can't get cornbread mix here. The recipe is still quick and easy to make though.
