Keep an eye on the water pipes. Especially if you have them shallow in the ground or in the outer walls of your house. If they are frozen problems may arise when they thaw. It's when things thaw they expand and may burst.

No kidding - i feel like I’ve spent all day chasing the wife and kids after they finish with a sink to make sure they let it drip. I feel like I’m in that insurance commercial where the people are turning into their parents.

A cool thing for your kids to do is making some ice lamps. Fill som balloons with water. Make sure there is a bubble of air on top. Place the balloons in a bowl, bucket or other shape. Leave ourt over night. You want them to form frozen walls but still with room for a candle inside.bsooner75 wrote:Not wet enough for a snow man so we settled on a snow turtle

Sooner handsome kiddo there. You’re welcome here at the farm if she wants more snow. Got 4 acres of it.
Joe, the ice lantern thing is one of the coolest things I ever saw. You are truly “Viking qualified”. And plus one on the pipes deal, we droop everything but somethings still freezes every year.

Weather app says -2 here now. It’s 0 F / -19 C on my gauge outside the back door. It’s frozen as one of Toby’s fish from the last striper trip.

Building at work is shut down for the second day. At this rate I think best bet to get back up and running is Friday but even that is questionable.
60 degrees next Monday is sounding mighty nice

LOL I like that! (And I sent that "Winter" one to EVERYONE I know.)
I think in my area we got about 6", kinda hard to tell with all the drifts. After shoveling half of my driveway, I had 3' piles on each side.
But I was able to get to work today.
High yesterday was 5 degrees, down to -13 last night. It was -7 when I drove in, but we have sunshine.
Another round coming this afternoon, into tomorrow. That could be another 6" or so.
Haven't had to actually deal with the rolling blackouts yet, but not looking forward to that. I understand Texas and Kansas are in the same boat.
We will be above freezing by this weekend. I'm a little concerned about thawing pipes, as Norway Joe mentioned.

Dang! You don't need rain to make it even worse!
That is one thing I've thankful for this go-around; we normally don't get much snow, just tons of ice - and it wreaks havoc.
This time has been a lot of dry fluffy snow. I guess we traded the ice for the extreme temps.
