Re: Will Ferrell and GM want a fight
I suspect if it were not for that fund, there wouldn't be as many advocating for the demise of the oilfield sector as they are now. After all, the only difference between Norway and Venezuela, is management.
I have never in my life rooted or cheered for the demise of any one indudtry, and the elimination of the jobs that the people occupy to take care of there families and themselves. And I find it not only troubling, but very difficult to sit back and watch people openly cheer for the demise of the oilfield. And I will not be sitting idly by while it goes on either. I can promise you that.

I wouldn't compare Norway to Venezuela. We have a democracy that works very well and we're not a socialist state.GRailsback wrote:I suspect if it were not for that fund, there wouldn't be as many advocating for the demise of the oilfield sector as they are now. Problem is that those here that will dismantle the oil industry are those who lives on the money the state can afford due to the income from the oil industry.
It's due to this fund the government can pay the fixed costs for all the business that had to close or a proportional part of the cost for those with reduced income due to covid, or pay all the workers that are on a leave almost full salary until October.
There is no other industry that can give the same income as the oil industry for us.
Seems we are way off topic but still interesting theme. I'm not sure if we are within the forums rules anymore. Don't think politics is allowed.
By the way. I got pizza for dinner.

Respects to all, I have only one thing to say about electric cars – Steve McQueen would not be driving one. And what’s good enough for Steve is good enough for me.
And by the way I consider Will Ferrell to be one of the least funny people ever to draw breath. With that beard, he gives a pretty good imitation of a beaver’s butt. Go Norge!

I can just imagine what "Big Daddy Don" and "The Swamp Rat Crew" is saying about all of this noise.

He has actually been running an electric dragster. He’s trying, or was, to be the first to run 200mph.

Re: Will Ferrell and GM want a fight
If you consider the upside to less petro use, the equation starts to make sense.
Of course in your country things are very different from America, so the switch may be easier on you than here.
Does your govt subsidize the oil industry to the extent we do here, I hope not, we are a joke when it comes to corporate well fare.
As for me, the gluttons who own the oil industry have had their pig snouts in the free money trough long enough, time to give renewable energy a taste.
For anyone truly interested in the subject, there's a great resource for info on latest tech advancement;

I made it 30 minutes in on Talladega Nights. Just not my style of humor. Plus I’m not a big movie guy to start with.

Re: Will Ferrell and GM want a fight
I decided to take the Wife to her favorite Restaurant today in Huntsville, Texas. It's called "The Farmhouse" and it's also my favorite place to eat. Sometimes we go up the old Hwy instead of the Frwy to see more of the Country, Pastures, Animals, Farms and ETC but this time we took Interstate 45 straight there and back home.
I had been thinking about Gas vs Electric and will one replace the other some day ?
It's only a 30 min drive and we passed several Auto Dealerships (Petro), Lawnmower Dealerships, Tractor Sales, Motorhome Dealers, Four Wheelers, Chain Saws, Motorcycles and Long Hauler Trucks. I probably forgot to mention a few more but there was thousands of Vehicle and Machines that ran off of Petro seen, both sitting and moving just in that short distance and time. To try and comprehend their replacement by renewable energy products and Petro never to be seen or used any more is beyond the capacity of my "being".
