Tired of High Ground Beef Prices
My Wife wanted to make Chili tomorrow since we're having a little Cool front come in. I went and bought some 93/7% ground meat at $4.99 a Lb. Walmart sells their briskets for $1.99 all the time and I have grinder and vacuum sealer. I'm gonna start grinding my own HB

Should be easy; separate the flat and the point: Flat= Lean , Point - either Smoke it or trim and grind for burgers

That would work too Doc but the Roasts are higher than the $1.99 Brisket

What kind of grinder are you using? I’ve been curious about this myself

Re: Tired of High Ground Beef Prices
I do my own grinding depending on the prices, I have even ground chicken breast, then use the bones for soup with a few noodles and a carrot. I have a tenderizer for the grinder that makes great tenderized chicken or beef. You can not go wrong processing your own meat. I did this for a high school part time job when I was growing up for a small grocery store.

That's pretty normal for here. Even more for brisket. I can't believe $1.99/pound!

Re: Tired of High Ground Beef Prices
We're smack in beef country. Less gas and distance to haul it. Still, I can buy a good burger with all the fixins for $6, and a GREAT burger for $11 (sorry to hear that Joe), so I may have to swear off ground meet except for ABTs.
Sailor, I will make you a deal, I will ship you cheeper ground beef if you will ship me some cheeper lobster tails. In the financial world, we call this a "swap", LOL, a Win/Win.

Yessir, that's what I do. You can make your own lean/fat ratio AND it's not just the generic "ground beef" that's generally a couple pennies cheaper per lb than brisket.

Wow, I thought our ground beef was high at $3.79/lb for 80/20. I think this week Hannaford has it on special for $2.59 for a 3-5 pound package.
