A lot of Americans on the ship. A few is seriously hurt. A drama at the west coast tonight. In really heavy wind a cruise ship has lost all of its engines. Drifting close to shore at the most dangerous place along our coast.
Passengers must be evacuated but because of the waves the only way is by helicopter. The ship is tilting a lot. Taking in some water, roofing falling down, furniture sliding around on the floor.
I hope it ends well, but airlifting 1300 persons from a ship in such a heavy conditions is no easy task.

Me too, Rambo, it seems the Crisis is finally over:
God Bless Them 'cause it could have been so much worse.
Evacuation of passengers has ended as cruise ship travels to port
The evacuation of passengers from a cruise ship off the western coast of Norway has come to an end as the vessel safely makes its way to Molde harbor, Viking Ocean Cruises said in a statement.
Rescue teams airlifted 479 people from the vessel after it was stranded in stormy seas Saturday with 1,300 passengers and crew on board.
The Viking Sky cruise ship, which regained engine power on Sunday morning, is traveling to Molde accompanied by two supply ships and one tug assist vessel. There are 436 guests and 458 crew still remaining on the ship.
Twenty people sustained injuries on the vessel, which was being tossed about by wind and waves, Viking Ocean Cruises said. All are being treated at medical facilities in Norway, or have already been discharged.
"Throughout all of this, our first priority was for the safety and well-being of our passengers and our crew," Viking Ocean Cruises said in a statement, thanking Norwegian emergency services and local residents for their support.

Very dramatic. This area is shallow and filled with underwater rocks. The ship was drifting close to the shore between the rocks. It was only 100 meters from the shoreline when the anchor gripped at the bottom. Only luck prevented the ship from hitting this rocks which would be catastrophic. The latest news says the waves was between 12 and 15 meters high in the area.Rambo wrote:Just watched a clip on this situation on Fox News; That's a bad situation. Luckily it seems this will end well. At the moment 479 people have been hoisted up into helicopters and evacuated. They have been flying during the entire night in the bad weather. Pretty dangerous.
They have been able to tow the ship and have stopped evacuating. They estimate the ship will be docked in 2-3 hours.
A lot of ships have gone down in this area.
To pass this area you have go around an arm of land this is sticking far out in the ocean. With this dangerous area out at the end. They are planning to build a tunnel for the ships so they dont have to go around.
