Gotta agree with OUP on this one. There's too many other vendors out there to buy from to put up with that cra... nonsense. Doubly so with the internet.
I'd have either said "thank you for not listening" and hung up, OR (If I was feeling really snarky (50-50 chance there, LOL) "Excuse me, you clearly lack any sort of listening skills. Can I talk to somebody else intelligent enough to understand the first rule of sales is to determine the customer's needs?" making sure to put emphasis on the word intelligent
TX is right about all types of grills turning out quality food in reasonably skilled hands also. I may have biases against a few specific, lower quality (IMO) brands, but I'll never say one type is the only way to go. A SMART sales weasel would have found out what you needed, seen if he could supply that now or via special order, then chatted you up about what types of cooking you like, and used that to see if there were other things he could have shown you for "when you were ready" to expand your arsenal.

Or judges. Cooks can be nasty at times.

Turdblossom -- that is a new one for me. I really like my Spitjack injector. Maybe they have gotten too full of themselves.
