Midland TX Steakhouse

Postby TwoGuysBBQ » Fri Sep 14, 2018 6:53 pm

I was in West Texas this week working and had an opportunity to have a Ribeye steak at one of the best steakhouses in the area. The BarnDoor has been around for generations and has some amazing steaks. One thing that is different at this place that I think is pretty cool is at dinner. They bring you out a small loaf of warm bread “as most places do” but they also bring out this block of cheddar cheese that you slice right there and it’s almost a meal in itself.

Back outside, part of the restaurant was a depot

Cool!

Back East, we had a famous NYC eatery, Mama Leone's, that brought out a block of white cheese...Swiss or Provolone, likely. I still remember from decades back.

I'd love a place like this around here, but no dice.....

Wow Sailor, u just brought me back a ways !! If my memory is correct, Mama's was a HUGE attraction in Manhattan ??
I think it finally closed in the late 80's or the latest, early 90' s ???
I remember the buzz that they would send customers home with bread & cheese ??

If not, I'm thinking about another place maybe ?

Well, we never went HOME with bread 'n' chez, but I do remember it being on every table. Yes, ML's was a HUGE attraction, ornate decor with full-size white marble statuary everywhere.

Too bad they closed.

I would also love to have a decent steakhouse here.
