Just to help prove my earlier point about California having a race for dumb ideas and publicity... UC Davis is feeding cows seaweed in an effort to reduce their methane emissions (ie farts) and save the world from cow fart induced global warming:

I got it straight from the horse's ...err... cow's mouth so you can see how biased the reporting and mindset is.

Keep in mind also; if you support climate change theory because you hate big oil; then natural gas is the answer to all the world's problems. If you're a PETA based global warming person, that same natural gas is the doom of us all coming out a dairy cow's butt.

As I've said previously, I'm all for clean air, etc... but we need to be intellectually honest about how to deal with pollution and it's causes (not to mention who is doing the polluting *cough*China*cough*).


OH, BTW... California, under that other fossil Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown has declared that Dairy Farmers MUST reduce the emissions of methane from their cows too.
Guess the farmers will be following the industry out of state, lol.

I'll make a prediction here also... Every time the feel good crowd pushes stuff like this it blows up. Just like when they said paper bags were killing forests and we had to switch to plastic to save the environment (idiots).

So; prediction... If this seaweed thing catches on and seaweed gets used for cattle food and other things... 15 years later we'll find out we've depleted the kelp beds, taking oxygen out of the water and have killed off all kinds of fish as a result.

According to their new rules, that will be OK, just as long as it doesn't hurt the Lobsters

All jokes aside, one potential pitfall to this scheme did come to mind... As most of you probably know, the standard medical advice nowadays is to eat fish no more than once a week due to all the mercury and other heavy metals in the oceans nowadays. If the fish are absorbing it, I'd all but guarantee the seaweed and similar plant life is too.
