Boots, looking at that play list I suspect your radio may be tuned to KHYI 95.3 The Range.

I loved firing up the grill on Sunday afternoons when they’d broadcast the Shiner Sunday concerts. Guess they lost the Shiner sponsorship and don’t broadcast it anymore. 95.9 the ranch has a pretty good live show that I stream as well.

Out at the Pits, I'm strictly a 105-3 Texas-Mix listener - - - some of the D.J.s program their music to my ears and some are a little too current but I never change the Station for some reason :dont: :texas: If the Boys are hanging out sometimes I'll break out my CDs and see if I can bore them enuff to walk away from the Beer and BBQ. :laughing7: Never happens :D

Lol, one of my faves is Roy o, we have a big day here every year for about 30 to 40 friends and family, we start about midday and keep going . By about 7 at night the party moves inside and the music comes on, Roy Orbison always the first to go on. My kids used to rib me a lot about Roy, but the funny thing last week my son who's 38 txt me , said I must be getting old dad, just downloaded Roy's black n whit album. My wife and I got a kick out of it. My late mum was a Roy fan as well. 3 generations, lol.

Southern Culture On The Skids, Willie, Dick Dale, Chuck Berry and Roy Orbison are on my list as are a few rockers from the 60's- The Dave Clark 5, the Kinks, The Spencer Davis Group and any Beatles tunes before Sgt. Pepper to name a few.

GTR is right, KHYI used to be a staple, particularly before Bruce Kidder (RIP) was sent packing. Truth told, probably saved my sanity back in the Oughts during a rough career patch.

And the pre-67 Beatles are up there, the Kinks gave a whole new meaning to the word “quirks” and wasn’t Spencer Davis the power R&B group (Gimme Some Lovin?).

And I see some glaring, MASSIVE omissions in my list:

Booker T and the MGs (Green Onions and others)
Johnny Rivers (Secret Agent Man)
Bobby Darin (only for Mack The Knife)
The Moody Blues (Knights in White Satin)
Cream (Strange Brew)
Jimi Hendrix (All Along the Watchtower and the Star Spangled Banner solo)
America (A Horse With No Name, only the version from the movie Air America)
Faron Young
The Possum (White Lightnin’)
Loretta Lynn and Harold Jenkins (for You’re The Reason Our Kids Are Ugly)
Don McLean (American Pie)
Vince Vance and the Valiants (Bomb Iran)
San Sham and the Pharoahs (Wooly Bully)
The incomparable Kingsmen (Louie Louie - and yes, I have not only done “The Gator”, I would unashamedly do it again!!)
The Dick Nixons (Do the Dick Nixon) - saw them live in New Orleans and almost soiled myself laughing when the “drummer” (who played a steel trash can) whipped out a football helmet with a cymbal mounted on top, plonked it on the head of the nearest seated female groupie, and proceeded to bang away on it like a deranged blacksmith all the way through their signature tune. That the young lady did not rip it off and use it to decapitate him is surely proof of a higher, most benevolent power.
Sam and Dave (Hold On)
Henry Mancini (Peter Gunn only)
Nelson Riddle (Route 66)
Dave Brubeck (Take 5)
Question Mark and The Mysterians (96 Tears)

And Last But Not Least (at least for now)...

Bobby Bare, for the greatest gospel song in recorded history, yes farieeeeends, reach out yer hands to the great DJ in the sky, I’m talkin about none other but that immortal spiritual, Drop Kick Me, Jesus, Haleloooooyawww!:

This time of year I've been playing some Cajun/Zydeco to get me up and running (and mess with the guys playing KHYI :laughing7: )

In our agency we use music therapy for our patients with dementia/alzheimers - have a playlist of nearly 3k songs right now, so I fire up the portable bluetooth speaker and go to town :)
