Monday's Lunch

A few of us meet up at the Topwater Grill in San Leon for lunch on Monday's for 1/2 price dozen raw oyster's on the half shell, only 1/2 price on Monday's. Along with that I'll usually get a 1/2 dozen garlic grilled also, got to get'em while the gettin is good.

Ahhhhh Man, how I wish that I could still enjoy them like I used to but, I'm afraid, those daze are long gone. I was a absolute menace to the oyster population :( :banghead: :roll:

They look real good, have you tried them raw dipped in malt vinegar and lots pepper? Any way you have them is good with me.

back when I could STILL eat them, I liked to wallow one around in a horseradish red sauce and then
one oyster = one swallow after chewing a tad

Never tried them that way before, seems you would loose a lot of the flavor from the oyster that way. :dont:

I like to just dab it in a little red sauce, pepper sauce, lay it on a cracker and chew it up. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. :cheers:

Outstanding! It's extremely hard to believe that, way back when, you almost couldn't give these things away. Think a bag of them was just a few pennies.. Now it seems you need a bank loan for a plateful..

Ain't that the truth, about $16 a dozen raw on the half shell :whiteflag: , that's why I like 1/2 price Monday's.

Only way I've had Oysters was on a PoBoy sammich... They were awesome, but I'll leave 1/2 shell idea for you pros, lol I just can't do it.

We had a guy with us that doesn't even like to look at raw oyster's but he will eat his weight in fried. :dont: :dont:

PoconoPal, what you need to do is come down here during mudbug season and we'll hook up with WillieP - - - then I can show you how to consume Mudbugs and He can initiate you on the Oysters (gotta drink the juice that's left in the shell, eh Willie?)
