My son was in the webelow pack associated with this troop of scouts. My son elected to go to a different troop when he graduated webelows, but we know most of the kids in this troop.

Glad that my son wasn't with them on this trip!

Wow, holy smokes man. Glad your boy (and the scouts from that troop) are OK. I bet that's one outdoor experience you're glad he didn't take part in!

Maybe a picture of a scout hangin' off a tree limb?

They deserve extra merit points for gettin' through that scenario.

Don't know if you read the whole article, but Juan, the kid in the picture has an identical twin brother who is also in scouts.

About a year ago they both were riding bicycles along the Trinity River on the path and saw a kid drowning in the river. The bolted off of the bikes, jumped in and saved that kid. They got some type of award from the scouts as well as the city of Ft. Worth.

Juan had 2 water incidents within a year!

I read that. Sounds like he needs to go into Conservation law enforcement or fireman training! Good for him!

Was in the scouts many many moons ago and what is the motto? Be Prepared. Glad it worked out. But I want to know what kinda scout group has $25k worth of camping equipment ! When we went it might have been $2500 and that included the van that took us camping. I think I missed out on something LOL

Nascar,
That is some scary stuff, glad your son is ok, and all the scouts that were there. That is amazing that the water raised that fast. xxfubaexx, I am with you 25K of equipment? We surely didnot have anything like that. TIMES a changing for sure.

Well, they had a Spicewine that they bought last year, a dually to pull it with, along with...

I never saw troop 95's equipment so I don't have any idea of what they had. I know the troop that my son went to had a nice enclosed trailer and a 2 car garage that was chunked full of camping equipment. Not saying that it was new or even nice equipment, but when they went, all the campers had to bring were toiletries and a pillow.

I have a feeling that $25K was "slightly" inflated so the media can make a bigger story out of it!
