Hi guys, sorry if this has been brought up before. I tried to search for "Post Oak" and it's ignoring the word "Post" in my search for some reason so if there's a topic out there I couldn't find it. Does anyone know where I can find some Post Oak wood for sale around Dallas? And how could I be sure it's from a Post Oak? Is the bark that much different than other white oaks? I just want a little bit to try and see if I can really taste a difference between it and other oaks. Thanks.

Once it's cut and split I can't tell the difference between Post Oak and Live Oak. The only way I can tell the difference is when it burns. Or I can see the leaves on a limb

Have you tried Arnolds in Irving?

I prefer to cut my own, I get Post, Pin, Live and White oak between here and San Antonio and when I was in the bayou's in Lousiana, I did well cleaning up the downed trees after the hurricanes and just threw all of that oak in together. I must have had nearly every meal by fire for the next year.
