We needed rain, But!!

Postby OSD » Sat Jun 02, 2007 5:19 am

We have been way behind on rainfall down here. We needed some rain bad. But on the first day of Hurricane season we get a tropical storm ( Barry ). We have been getting rain since late yesterday afternoon. Late last night the high winds started blowing. Looks like it's going to make landfall sometime today.
We must be in one of the pockets that has been getting heavy rain and less wind. Got 8" overnight. Doesn't look like there will be a lot of damage from this storm. Some wind and minor flooding. But this goes with the territory. :D

I was watching some fishing shows last weekend and they were commenting on the drought that Florida was going through. Some of the lakes look ROUGH. But, I will tell you from experience that it can and will come back, Lake Travis was down almost 40' at the beginning of March as of last week it is back at full pool. Heck in the month of March alone it came back 23'. Keep your head down.....Good luck!!!

When people realize what is really important in life there will be a shortage of fishing rods.

Wow, talk about a fast mover. :D By 10:00 AM the rain quit and most of the wind had settled down and it was moving inland toward the east and thankfully not doing any real bad damage. :D :D Seemed like it turned into just a big fast moving thunderstorm once the center of the storm hit land. :D

Glad that everything turned out OK. I know that we have escaped some big un's this year!

What part of Florida are you in again? I can't remember...

OK... St Pete...

I remember as a kid my dad was offered a job on the west coast of FL. I am thinking it was in St. Pete. As a kid, I wanted to go really bad, but now as an adult, I don't know about that... Too many snakes and too close to the everglades! I'm a chicken!!!
