And there was one. Our cat Fysbyn was put down today. Part Maine Coone, part tabby. He was 16yrs, 8 1/2 months old.

Been kind of a rough ride for us, especially the Mrs. as our 13 yr old collie dog passed in his sleep earlier this year who was preceded in death by our Dane a couple of years earlier who had a 10 yr run. Had all these since they were youngins We are left with one cat whose name is Aries and a Chinese Water Dragon named Hank who no one knows his age but the guesses by the Vets are at least 15yrs.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. This one hit the Mrs pretty hard. It was our first "kid" (as we don't have any together) and got him shortly after we got together. But time is the great healer and for now are enjoying Aries.

sorry for you lose. It is so hard to have a pet that long and lose them. I have two Basenji's 10.5 and 3.5 years old. I am already scared of the day of my oldest. The breed is expected to live 15 years but still scared. When you have them that long I truely feel they are apart of your family. They are like my kids.

Man, I know that losing a pet is rough. Lisa and I had a Angora cat when we moved back to Texas that we got when we lived in Indiana. About 2 months after we moved back she got very ill and had to be put to sleep. That was a VERY rough time for us, we waited a little bit before we got another cat to replace "Mouse". We finally decided on a new cat and he is still with us, he is now 10 years old and is as crazy as the first day he came home. We now have 2 cats (Peanut & Cleo) and a dog (Dozer), and they are considered our kids as well. Wouldn't know what to do if something was to happen to them.

Our condolences on the loss of your buddy.....
